I'll give any instrument a go! if it makes a noise it can play a tune, i reckon.

I used to be a bass player, but i hardly ever get any calls for it these days, although i still have one of each.

Every now and then i play some trombone - I was a founding member of Skazz and have played with the Hoodangers and with the Red Onions and played some very dodgy trombone on Allan Browne's Five Bells record. I love the old simple "tailgate" style and where i lack technique and finess i try to make up for it with tasteless slapstick.

Sometimes i play some alto sax, espescially in a bebop or bluesy style.

Sime Nugent rang me up one day a few years back and said "i'm recording this song and it's crying out for some hammer dulcimer on it. If we can find one would you play it?" Fortunately, I had once spent a few weeks working with a fabulous hammer dulcimerist from China so i had at least some familiarity with what the instrument does and how to drive it (enough to be able to fake it for a three minute pop song!). I still haven't heard a copy of that record yet, Sime!

I've been told (repeatedly) that i'm a lousy drummer...... but that never stops me - drummers, lock up your sticks!!!!!

Fungloid - Skazz. i'm playing trombone in this little tune i wrote for the band in 2002

Ocean - James Butt, from the long-awaited 2007 album "wrong road songs". jim has written so many great songs, and i've had lots of fun playing bass with him and hanging out down the ocean road.
